The light is designed to measure the internal potential of a 12 volt battery. When the light is RED it is showing a low potential storage for energy, indicating a battery that is heavily sulfated/sulphated.
The GREEN light is showing a high potential storage for energy, indicating a battery that is new or lightly sulfated/sulphated.
Once the light is green the battery has the potential to perform as it was designed to do, namely accept and store electricity.
The indicator light works independent of the DESULFATION circuit, it merely allows for a visual proof that the desulfation/desulphation process is working.
